Canadian university exhibition football returns to Greater Vernon this summer.

The UBC Thunderbirds will defend their Kal Tire Kalamalka Bowl championships against this year’s challengers, the University of Alberta Golden Bears of Edmonton, on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Greater Vernon Athletic Park.

The T-Birds defeated the University of Calgary Dinos 28-7 in the inaugural Kalamalka Bowl in August 2022 at GVAP.

“This will mark the second annual Kalamalka Bowl between two of the top university football teams in Canada and the largest event ever hosted at the Greater Vernon Athletic Park,” said organizing committee spokesperson Malcolm Reid.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 1, through eventbrite, via kalbowl.com.

Bleacher seating at GVAP for the game will be $30.

“This year individual numbered seats are sold in the bleachers,” said Reid. “These seats are limited and sold quickly last year. People wishing bleacher seating are encouraged to purchase early.

A general admission ticket is $12 which allows access to the game without seating.
