Summerland Steam lose three

Summerland Steam hockey team recently lost three games in Junior B hockey action.

The Summerland Steam played to three losses in recent Junior B hockey action.

On Jan. 12, the team lost a 6-3 decision to the Lakers in Penticton on Jan. 12.

Steve Semenoff scored for the Steam on a power play at 15:17 with the assists by Doug Chadwick and Jordan McCallum.

The Lakers responded with a short-handed goal at 13:34.

In the second period, the Lakers scored on a power play at 11:44.

The Steam responded with a goal by Brock McDonald at 8:40. Nelson Bowman had the assist.

The Lakers resumed the lead at 7:56 with another goal.

The Lakers began the third period with a goal at 17:03.

Dylan Burton of the Steam scored on a power play at 7:02, with the assist by Chadwick.

The Lakers then scored on a power play at 3:29 and a final goal at 2:20 for the win.

On Jan. 18, the Steam were in Penticton to face the Lakers.

This game ended in a 3-1 loss for Summerland.

The Lakers began with a power play goal at 15:06 in the first period.

In the second period, the Lakers added another goal at 19:29.

The third Lakers goal was on a power play at 8:21.

Summerland responded with a shorthanded goal at 5:04 when Taylor Jordan scored with the assist by Chadwick.

The game on Friday was closer when the Steam hosted the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, playing to a 6-4 loss.

Beaver Valley opened the game with a power play at 6:54.

Gerry Hol responded with a power play goal at 3:59, with the assist by Ryan MacMurchy.

Hol scored again on a power play at 1:09 with assists by Semenoff and Chadwick.

In the second period, the Nitehawks scored at 14:59 and then on a power play at 13:36.

MacMurchy scored for the Steam on a power play at 10:55, assisted by Hol.

At 2:21, Chadwick scored, assisted by McDonald and Semenoff.

In the third period, Beaver Valley scored at 19:42, on a power play at 9:25, and on a power play at 8:15.

Summerland’s sole goal in the third period was at 6:15 when Josh Spence scored unassisted.

The Steam are in fifth place out of five teams in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference: Okanagan Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

The team has 10 wins, 30 losses and two overtime losses.

The next action for the Steam is on Friday at 7:35 p.m. when the Chase Heat will be in town.

The game will take place at the Summerland Arena.
