Summerland Jets face West Kelowna Bulldogs

U9 hockey teams had a close contest on the ice

There were a number of Summerland minor hockey games over the weekend of Jan. 28 and 29.

One of the most entertaining was the Jets U9 Blue team versus the West Kelowna Bulldogs at the Royal LePage Arena. These two teams have met before and once again the contest was close.

In net for Summerland was Gibson Langlois. For U9 games, if there is a penalty, a penalty shot is awarded. For this game, Summerland was given two penalty shots.

One of Summerland’s best goal scorers, Corban Gay, had the first penalty shot. Unfortunately, he blasted the puck over the net.

The second penalty shot was taken by Kaylie Vancha, and she tucked the puck into the corner of the net, for a goal.

Another goal worth mentioning was from Heath Skinner. He had an end to end rush with a nice goal,

Seconds later, he hit the post on another rush. Some Summerland players had their best game of the season.

Koen McGillis was all over the ice, back-checking and setting up plays. Berkley Scheen and Ivan Knorr also had good games.

The three stars were Ivan Knorr, Koen McGillis and defence player Keira Zral.
