A Summerland rider hoping to compete in the 2012 Olympics in London is selling shares in her horse as a fundraiser.

Stephanie Rhodes-Bosch, who has competed internationally, is now raising money to fund a trip to a competition in England later this month.

To raise the money, she is offering shares in her horse, Port Authority.

For $5,000 U.S., purchasers will receive owner packages at three-day events, including premium seating at events and hospitality above what regular guests receive.

Only four shares are for sale. At present, she has not sold any shares and she said she still has plenty of work to do before the 2012 Olympics in London.

“I’m not a sure thing for the Olympics,” she sad. “The selection for that event won’t happen until early summer 2012.” She added she is on the short list for the event.

If the Badminton Horse Trial event in Gloucestershier, England is successful, Rhodes-Bosch will use it as her qualifying event for the Olympics.

“The best of the best will be at Badminton and it is a great atmosphere to learn to work in,” she said.

She is also planning to compete at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day next April.

Rhodes-Bosch, 22, has been riding since she was seven. In 2007, she left Canada to train with fellow Canadian Rebecca Howard at The Fork.

In 2008, she received a bronze medal at the North American Young Rider Championships.

She also has placed fifth at the 2010 Rolex and ninth individually at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games.
