Senior women’s rugby has been re-established in the Okanagan in the form of the Crows Women’s Rugby Team.

The team plays the full 15-aside Union game in the fall and spring. The team will compete in the B.C. Rugby Union Second Division, which features squads from Ridge Meadows, Burnaby Lake, Capilano (North Vancouver), Meralomas (Vancouver), UBC 2, Rogues (Vancouver), Comox, Nanaimo and Port Alberni.

The Crows are made up of community players and players from the UBC Okanagan Heat women’s team. Existing players are from Penticton, West Kelowna, Summerland and Kelowna.

The players range in age from 18 to 39, and in skill level, from first-time players to seasoned vets.

The Crows practise Tuesday and Thursday nights, 7-8:30 p.m., at Kelowna’s Parkinson Rec Centre. Their first game goes Sept. 10 at home to either UBC Vancouver or Simon Fraser University.
