Racer holds fundraiser

Sarah Cornett-Ching Racing will hold a charity event at Walmart in Penticton, BC, to benefit the BC Children’s Hospital.

The event will take place Friday, July 29 and will raise funds and awareness during the popular Gordie Mannes two-night race weekend at Penticton Speedway.

The event will raise funds for the B.C. Children’s Hospital in 2011.

The Penticton Speedway will donate a portion of the 50/50 draws throughout the season to the charity, and they will participate in various fundraisers with Sarah Cornett-Ching Racing.

In 2010 the Summerland-based auto racer was able to raise $1,500 for the B.C. Children’s Hospital, which she plans to donate at the beginning of this racing season.

“The whole experience was deeply rewarding,” Cornett-Ching said.

“I feel like I am rallying our community for such a great cause.”

Cornett-Ching is in the process of organizing a few fundraisers that will be spread throughout the year, and she hopes to make a visit to the hospital possible this season.
