The Penticton Vees Junior A Hockey Club announced Wednesday the team has traded forward Darwin Lakoduk to the Prince George Spruce Kings in exchange for future considerations.
Lakoduk, 20, came to the Vees for the final 34 games of the 2019-20 season after being acquired from the Victoria Grizzlies.
The 5’10”, 167-pound forward posted 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points during his time in Penticton. The BCHL veteran has suited up for a total of 113 games throughout his careers, posting 36 points with the Vees and Victoria Grizzlies.
The Edmonton, AB product secured his collegiate future last season by committing to American International College for the 2021-22 season.
Vees president, general manager and head coach, Fred Harbinson said Lakoduk will be missed but the club was forced to moved him due to his age.
“Darwin was a huge reason we had success last season,” said Harbinson. “He is going to be missed on the ice and in the locker room. Unfortunately, our abundance of 20-year-olds placed me in a situation where we had no choice but to move him.”
The BCHL allows teams to carry a maximum of six 20-year-old players.
