Five different Penticton Vees found the back of the net on Thursday night (Jan. 27), helping the team cruise to a 5-2 road victory against the Wenatchee Wild.

Vees forward Brett Moravec opened the scoring in the first period before his teammate, Luc Wilson, was credited with the game-winning goal late in the middle frame.

Moravec picked up right where he left off on Thursday, after scoring a hat trick in Penticton’s win against the Merritt Centennials last Friday (Jan. 21).

Penticton’s strong start on the ice was backed up by the team’s shot total — the Vees outshot the Wild 21-3 in the first period while clinging to an early 1-0 lead.

Fred Harbinson’s squad tallied a total of 53 shots on net before the final buzzer was heard at the Town Toyota Center in Washington State.

The Vees added two more goals in the middle frame and another two markers in the third period to secure their second victory in a row.

Along with Moravec and Wilson, Josh Nadeau, Beanie Richter and Adam Eisele acted as the other Penticton goal scorers.

In the crease, Vees goaltender Kaeden Lane made 23 saves on 25 shots, collecting his 17th victory of the 2021-2022 campaign.

The Vees and Wild will meet yet again on Friday. Thursday night’s game was the first of three straight matchups between the two teams.
