Midget Rep Jets end season with wins

The Summerland Midget Rep Jets are heading into the playoffs on a roll after sweeping their final two regular season games on the road Jan. 29 and 30.

Kamloops was the first stop, where Summerland skated away with a 4-2 victory.

The Jets scored three times in the first period, with goals from Ty Truman, Shaun Fraser and Liam McCluskey. Truman added his second of the game early in the second frame.

Brandon Gerlach, Truman and Fraser had assists. Goaltender Trevor Austin held the Kamloops team to just a pair of goals.

The Jets traveled on to Revelstoke for a game on Sunday morning and it was a wild one.

Truman had a natural hat trick as Summerland led 4-1 after the first period.

Nelson Hurry had the final goal of period with just four seconds remaining. Hurry and Sam Austin found the back of net in the second period but Revelstoke came back with four goals of their own and the Jets lead 6-5 going into the third.

Revelstoke evened the score just 44 seconds into the third but the Jets regained the lead on Truman’s fourth goal of the game only to see the home side tie the game at seven before McCluskey scored the game winner with just over six minutes left.

Fraser had four assists, Truman had a pair and Kenton Johnson added a helper.

Cole Marchant and Trevor Austin split the goaltending duties.

The Jets, who are sponsored by Game Time Sports, will begin their playoff season this weekend against a yet-to-be determined opponent.
