All women who ride are invited to celebrate International Women’s Mountain Bike Day on May 4.

The Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan (MTBCO) is hosting a free women’s group ride at the Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park day-use area starting at 1 p.m.

The event is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and wants to ride a mountain bike.

There will be three groups – beginner, intermediate and advanced – and all ability levels are encouraged to come out and ride.

Before the group ride starts, there will be a one-hour optional mini jumps and skills clinic held beginning at noon in the day-use area.

The group ride will begin at approximately 1 p.m. and will leave from the day-use area main parking lot. Please arrive a few minutes early.

Each group will have a leader and a sweep rider so that no one is left behind.

After the ride, MTBCO is hosting a post-ride social in the day-use area.

The entire International Women’s Mountain Bike Day event is free but people are asked to pay a one-time fee register to become an MTBCO member and fill out a liability waiver. The fee supports the organization’s work and the supplies required to maintain the trails.

Riders are also encouraged to register online ahead of time at eventbrite.ca so that the group can estimate the number of participants to expect.

MTBCO is a volunteer driven non-profit association with a mission to lead sustainable and inclusive mountain biking opportunities in and around Kelowna.

The organization maintains 248 km of trails in the Central Okanagan and engages with the government to secure trail networks for the future.
