Bantams skate to second-place spot

Summerland Jets Nesters Bantam House had a spectacular weekend in Winfield, placing second overall at their tournament.

The team started off the tournament Friday, playing against the Salmon Arm Powerhouse.

The teams were well matched, but Summerland prevailed by a score of 7-6.

Nester’s Bantam House next took on the Winfield Bruins, beating them easily, by a score of 9-2.

Saturday brought another win, against the Westside Wild. The Jets battled back from a 2-0 deficit, to win 5-2. The Jets came first in their pool, sending them to the semi-finals.

Sunday morning, the Jets took on the Westside Grizzlies. Summerland won again, by a score of 5-3, sending the team to the finals.

The championship game was a hard fought battle.

The Jets took on the Salmon Arm Warriors. Both teams battled hard, but in the end, Salmon Arm took the lead, then clinched the win with an open net goal.

The final score was 4-2.

Jared Breikreutz shone in net, facing 126 shots.

Team members Tiana West, Katelyn Grant, Clayton Fenrich, Kevin Greenwood, Jessica Poulsen, Anthony Hoey, Austin Warkentin, Seth Morgan, Kristian Degan, Kaiden Woods, Aiden McLuskey, Jacob Schatz all played extremely well.

Their teamwork was phenomenal.
