Dear Editor: I am in favour of the proposed new recreation centre in Summerland that will be decided in the upcoming Nov. 4 referendum.
I have been a resident and taxpayer in Summerland since 1987 and have raised our family here. Our family enjoyed the many programs and lessons at the centre years ago when the facility was deemed adequate. However, the current facility is no longer adequate or viable.
I believe having a new, modern facility will be an asset to our community. We need a new facility to meet the needs of our growing community. I believe the new facility will be an asset that will attract and retain not only young people but will meet the needs of people of all ages in Summerland.
The facility will act as a community hub that will create social cohesion. All community members will have the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from this modern, well equipped facility.
It is a smart investment for the future of Summerland.
