Dear Editor:
I would like to say that I support Doug Sharpe’s position that there needs to be a period of time set aside for consultation with the residents and taxpayers before the rainbow crosswalks go ahead.
The painting of rainbow crosswalks in Summerland is more than a small public works decision. It makes a statement to the world in support of a lifestyle that not everyone is in agreement with.
Yes, every individual is unique and has a right to be respected and accepted. This also should apply to the residents and taxpayers of Summerland who put the current council in place and deserve a chance to be heard.
