LETTER: Why no mention of donors?

Reader says individual contributions need to be recognized

Dear Editor:

We read with interest the article in last week’s Summerland Review entitled “Remembrance banners added” and have to wonder why no mention at all was ever made to the considerable number of local residents who made the original contributions.

Reading the article printed in last week’s paper would indicate that it is due solely to the contributions made by the Summerland Credit Union that have enabled all of these banners to be made.

While we applaud the Credit Union for stepping up and funding these wonderful banners that do give some recognition to the sacrifices made by those local men and women who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today, mention should also be made that contributions made by local members of the community went a long way to helping fund the original banners.

Speaking for ourselves, we never received the slightest word of thanks from Mr. Gregory or anyone associated with the original contribution campaign.

Bernard and Betty Butler
