Dear Editor:
I attended the Monday morning council meeting on May 8. Cameron Baughen (RDOS) was in attendance.
Council adopted the resolution “that the presentation from Cameron Baughen, Solid Waste Management Coordinator with the RDOS regarding a Regional Compost Facility be received for information.”
But there was no presentation. Perhaps a presentation was made at some other time.
If that is the case, this resolution should have been considered at that time.
The public attended this meeting because Baughen’s presentation was on the published agenda.
The RDOS shortlisted sites for this Regional Compost Facility to two sites: Marron Valley and Summerland.
Over the past 30 years, Summerland’s water reservoir/landfill/compost facilities has been a series of engineering blunders. For the RDOS to even consider the Summerland site is highly suspect. Show us how Summerland was shortlisted.
