Dear Editor:

We are having dinner on our deck which overlooks Peach Orchard Park. The barking never ends!!

This is ridiculous. If you want a dog park in your back yard, just move to Summerland. It’s where they have no respect for people who pay high taxes for a peaceful, beautiful, and quiet place to live.

All that seems to matter here are dogs. Dog beaches, Dog swimming areas, Dog events in the park!

We’re currently considering moving, just to get away from the property devaluation that will come as result of this council’s obsession with pleasing dog owners.

I ’ve had many dogs in my life, and I like dogs, so I understand that they need a place to exercise, but this abuse of what was once a beautiful public area just for dogs is idiocy.

Perhaps the next step for our council will be to rip out the boat launch, Spirit Square, volleyball court and move forward with the construction of a pop-up dog hotel, dog spa and dog swimming/shower facility to accompany the dog beach that now dominates more than a third of the children’s spray park and public beach area.

Frankly, we’re thinking it’s time to reconsider our investment in Summerland….
