For those of you out there who enjoy performing, especially if you’ve been on the look for an outlet to channel that talent into, I’ve got some excellent news. The Summerland Singers and Players are on the hunt for a couple of performers for their upcoming spring show.
If you’re not familiar with the Summerland Singers and Players, they’ve been hard at work delivering theatrical experiences of all kinds to Summerland for more than 100 years now and this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the local theatre scene.
For their upcoming show, a play called 2 Across: A Comedy of Crosswords and Romance, the Summerland Players and Singers need one female performer and one male performer.
Auditions are being held on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Summerland Arts Centre on Wharton St., starting at 7 p.m. both days.

If you’re not really the performing type, but you’re still looking to take your creative side for a test drive — which, honestly, everyone should do at least once in their life — then the Summerland Arts Council has just the thing for you.
Their “Have You Ever Wanted To…” workshop series has been running since early January and, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to make a quilt, then this is the session for you.
On Feb. 8, Annie Smirmaul from the Summerland Material Girls will be leading the group through a how-to on quilting.
These workshops are a really great way to test the waters on something that has always piqued your curiosity, but maybe haven’t had a chance to try yet.
Not only that, but it’s a great way to discover some of the arts groups actively promoting who they are and what they do. I can’t think of a better way to help promote an arts group than by holding workshops like this.
