April 14, 1946 - March 29, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheldon Ernest Doherty on March 29, 2021. He will be forever missed by his wife Marion, daughters Keri (Mark) and Lori (Ron), brother Albert (Barb), sister Karen (Lance), grandchildren Chloe, Presley, Tyler, and Brynleigh, niece Kyra, and nephew Dawson.
Sheldon was born and raised in Summerland. After graduating from High School and Grade 13 in Penticton, he moved to Vancouver, then to Prince George to work for Beneficial Finance where he met his wife Marion of 51 years. They spent 1 year in Winnipeg, then moved back to Summerland to take over the family orchard and raise their children. He worked for the Liquor Board until he retired.
Sheldon had many hobbies which included painting, carving pipes, walking sticks and knives, camping, fishing, weight lifting and arm wrestling. Sheldon had an unconditional love for dogs. Over the years, he had his faithful companions of 10 different breeds of dogs by his side. He was very musically inclined and could play any instrument he picked up including the accordion which the grandchildren loved to dance to.
He was well loved by all his family and friends.
We would like to thank Dr. Krabbe and all the wonderful caring staff at Summerland Seniors Village. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
There will be no formal service by request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
