In Loving Memory ~
Sharon Ann Austin passed away with her family by her side on April 5, 2023, at the age of 82 years.
She is remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband, Bill Austin; children, Scott Austin (Susy) of Summerland, Marty Austin (Pam) of Summerland, and Darrin Austin (Wendy) of Shawnigan Lake, 5 grandchildren, Lorena Graydon (Oliver), Matt Austin (Kaori), Caley-Anne Austin, Trevor Austin, and Samuel Austin (Lindsay); 2 great-grandchildren, Sophie Graydon and Yuki Austin; as well as siblings, Bill Ehlers and Jack Ehlers.
Mom spent her teenage years in Peachland, where she loved to explore the creeks and hills above the lake. After marrying Dad in 1960 she moved to Summerland. She worked in local orchards during harvest time for many years. Mom grew up with brothers and had three boys of her own; you can imagine what home life was like!
She was our biggest fan at baseball games and supported us in all the other sports we were involved in. She followed the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Seahawks and was very happy to celebrate the World Series and Super Bowl championships.
Mom enjoyed bus trips to Reno and other destinations and handed out many 'lucky pennies' to passengers departing from Summerland. She loved her garden and collected several Denby Shield awards for her vegetables at the Summerland Fall Fair.
Her grandchildren gave her much joy and she was thrilled to welcome two great-granddaughters in the last three years of her life.
Thank you to Dr. M. Krabbe and the residents and staff of the Summerland Seniors Village for the kindness shown to Mom. She was a true friend to many, and we will miss her.
A family memorial gathering will take place in the Summer of 2023.
