Our dad, Roy Yoshimi Kuroda, born March 21, 1922 in
Summerland, BC, peacefully passed away April 26, 2017.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Tami, in
2007 and his son-in-law Guy Richer in 2011.
Roy is survived by his son Brian, his daughter Darlene and
her family: son Shaun (Chelsea) and their 3 boys Kai, Asher,
and Channing and their daughter Michelle (Jason); and his
daughter Connie (Alex) and her family: daughter Melissa
(Brad) and their 3 daughters Rylie, Miya, and Tristyn,
daughter Christina (Grant), daughter Lindsey (Wade) and their
2 children Blake and Sydney, and son Tyler (Erin) and their
baby due in early fall. Roy is also survived by his brother
Frank (Marge) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad completed all his schooling in Summerland. As a young
man, he worked for Shannon’s Transfer, a pioneering trucking
establishment and then went on to work for the Occidental
Fruit Company, taking care of machinery maintenance in the
cold storage plant. He retired after 22 years when the plant
amalgamated with another packing house. Finally, he worked
for Summerland School District #77 as the maintenance and
bus driver, retiring after 15 years.
Although he and Mom travelled several times to Hawaii,
Arizona, and Japan, to name a few, Dad enjoyed being at
home the best. Keeping his yard and garden in immaculate
condition was his passion.
Both Mom and Dad were avid supporters of the original group
working to build and bring to fruition the Summerland Golf
and Country Club.
There will be no service at Dad’s request. Interment will take
place in Canyon View Cemetery, Summerland, BC.
If desired, donations can be made to the charity of your
choice. Our sincere thanks to the caring and compassionate
staff at Dr. Andrew Pavilion.
In his memory, always tell those close, “I love you!!”
