In loving memory ~
Naomi passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at the Fraser Canyon Hospital with her daughter Dawn and her son-in-law Doug at her side. Naomi was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica on June 26, 1927. Naomi met her husband in Kingston, Jamaica in 1943 during the war. As a war bride, she married in Brockville, Ontario and relocated to Grande Prairie for Jim to work on the family farm. Then after some years they moved to Lacombe, Alberta as an opportunity came up for Jim to accept a Field Supervisor for the County of Lacombe. Later in 1979, they retired to Summerland.
Naomi enjoyed many arts & crafts. During her time in Lacombe she took a Graphic Arts correspondence course and got a job at the County of Lacombe Resource Office, She developed kits & resource material for the teachers of the district. She has so many interests from oil painting, sewing, making stuffed toys & puppets, knitting, crocheting and was a serious quilter. Mom also enjoyed golfing and travelling and had many happy holidays with family and multiple friends. I think she would like to be remembered by everyone that loved her as the woman she was; a very kind and thoughtful woman and if she was your friend you definitely knew it. During her last few years in Hope she was living at Riverside Manor and was so happy making new friends. She will be missed by so many of the staff and especially her "table mates". She always commented how as the eldest she had to keep everyone in line.
Predeceased by her loving husband Jim Sebastian in 2016. Left to remember Mom is her daughter Dawn, son-in-law Doug; daughter-in-law Sylvia (Son Wayne passed away in 2012); Grand Children, Samantha, Guy (Tanya), Jeremy (Karrie), Renee (Kyle); Great-grandchildren, Darcy, Calvin, Brandon and our new addition Lenika as well as step-great-granddaughter Jamie.
Special thanks to Riverside Manor for the exemplary care she was given, she had found a place that she was happy to call "home". Also, thanks to the nursing staff at the Fraser Canyon Hospital and also the Hospice care. No service was Mom's request.
Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me
I want no tears in a gloom filled room;
why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me-but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It is a part of the Master's plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me-but let me go
