Martina MCIVOR

May 17, 2009

Martina McIvor. Gently and in the care of loving family at her side, Martina McIvor passed away on May 17, 2009, at the Summerland Seniors Village. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends, daughters, Barbara (Orv) Robson of Summerland, Marty (Larry) McComb of Victoria, granddaughters Kimberly Robson, Nicole (Marc) Solomon, great-granddaughter Kaelynne Solomon, brother Dave Jenkinson, sister-in-law Betty Lee and many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 62 years, Colin, predeceased her in 2004. They are finally together forever. Martina was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on December 17, 1917, one of nine siblings. She entered nursing school in 1942 and married Colin before he went overseas. After graduation from Selkirk General Hospital in 1943, she worked in Vancouver in a first aid station while Colin was overseas then went back to Winnipeg King George Hospital. Their daughters were born in Selkirk and in 1951 they transferred to Calgary with the CIL where they lived until they moved to Summerland in 2001. Martina was a dedicated nurse; she worked as Head Nurse of the pediatric ward at Calgary General Hospital from 1954 to 1980. She lived for her family and always supported, guided, nurtured and loved them. Martina was a true lady in every sense of the word; her strength, realistic approach to life and sense of humour are a wonderful legacy. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Rosedale Memorial Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC with Pastor Rick Gay officiating.
