Martha Elizabeth Loney passed away August 13, 2011 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Bassano, Alberta on March 24, 1917. Martha leaves to mourn her son Dennis (Sako) Hill of California, daughter Dolly (Ian) Macdougall of Summerland, step daughter Maureen Loney of Vernon, sister Frieda Zingrich of Penticton, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Martha’s husband Ward preceded her in 1995. In the 1950’s and 60’s Martha was a member of the Penticton Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered in the extended care unit. She was also an active member of the Business and Professional Club, curling club and Summerland Bowling Club until she retired in 2003. When the Senior Centre was built, she volunteered in the care unit and arts and crafts for a few years. She would have bus loads of residents from the Centre come to her home in Trout Creek to enjoy a pleasant afternoon and refreshments. Martha joined the Hospital Auxiliary in Summerland and was a member for many years and volunteered at Parkdale. She will be missed by her family and friends. A private family service was held.
