Marion Gertrude McCuaig (nee Baverstock)

of Summerland, BC after an extended illness, lovingly cared for by family, friends and staff at the Dr. Andrew Pavilion, died peacefully on February 7, 2010 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband Ian McCuaig, Marion will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Margaret, Bill, Nancy and Mary (Joe); grandsons: Michael (Melissa) and Christopher (Rose); brother: Ron (Rose) Baverstock; extended family and dear friends. Marion was born in Vernon and completed her nurses training at VGH in Vancouver. After graduation she worked for many years serving the families of Summerland in general duty, in the operating room and laterally as a community care nurse. Ian and Marion married in 1947 and raised their four children in Summerland. Marion’s life reflected her tenacious spirit, her courage and her deep love of family, friends, home and garden. Marion will be remembered for her compassionate care of her family, friends and patients, for her abundant garden which she shared generously with many and for her attention to the important details of life. Please join in celebrating Marion’s life at Zias Stonehouse Restaurant, 14015 Rosedale Avenue, on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Summerland Ornamental Gardens or to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation/Summerland Therapeutic Garden.
