In Loving Memory ~
Kenneth Stoll passed away with his family by his side on September 26, 2022, at the age of 82 years. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children, Cathi (Darrell) of Summerland and Sylvia (George) of Summerland, three granddaughters, Nicolette, Sheridan, and Tarrin, all of Summerland as well as his brother Peter Stoll of Penticton.
Ken was sadly predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Nancy in May of 2018, and by his parents Hans and Nettie Stoll, all of Summerland.
His love of life, sense of humour, and his ability to relate to people of all ages meant that he touched the lives of all who knew him. Ken especially loved spending time with his three granddaughters who held a special place in his heart.
After growing up working in his family's orchard, Ken worked to put himself through the University of British Columbia by driving a taxi to obtain his degree. After earning his teaching certificate, he taught English and history for several years.
In 1974, he was called upon to take over the family orchard after a tragic accident left his father unable to walk. Ken added to the family farm, purchasing another orchard nearby where he raised his own family while tending to both farms. He was later joined by his brother Pete and his family.
Ken loved music and played in a band while in university. He was an excellent guitarist, and played several other instruments, including bass clarinet, saxophone, and the flute among others.
He served as an Alderman on the Summerland Municipal council like his father before him. He loved animals and grew up with horses, dogs, and cats on the family farm and throughout his life. An avid curler and golfer, he famously shot a hole-in-one at the Summerland Golf Club - which he had helped build.
He was a realtor in Summerland and was a long-haul truck driver until he turned 70 and finally retired. He drove all over Canada and the US and spoke about his adventures often.
Ken loved to ride motorcycles with his friends until age and an accident caught up with him in his mid-70's. He was an historian and an amateur astronomer with an amazing memory for facts about subjects which interested him. He was an excellent fisherman, umpire, and hockey referee.
Ken was a social butterfly who always took the time to talk to everyone, anytime, anywhere he went.
