December 14, 1930 - January 2, 2021
Keith was born December 14, 1930 and passed peacefully at home on January 2, 2021.
It's with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Keith DeLeeuw.
He was born in Bashaw, AB, the second of 12 children. At age 14, the family moved from the farm to Vermillion and three years later moved to Lloydminster where he graduated at age 17. He married Dorothy Greupner and they had five children.
He worked in the oilfields and partnered in a heavy construction equipment business before moving to Marshall, SK to manage the Esso/hardware store there.
He was given the opportunity to purchase the Esso in Summerland, BC so he moved his family of seven there in 1970. He became very involved in the community by volunteering on different boards - hospital, Kiwanis, and Credit Union as well as coaching and umping kids' baseball. He was also an alderman from 1972-77 and instrumental in the ARDA and Recreation Centre/pool projects. He purchased an orchard and also managed Miller Trucking and later worked as a mechanic at the packing house for ten years.
After retirement, he started purchasing and renovating houses. His goal was not about making the most money, but helping the most people to afford a home. His handyman skills and integrity helped numerous people over the years.
Sadly, he lost his wife Dorothy of 46 years to cancer and sold his orchard. He married Sharon Jordan and they lived in their lovely 'La Caseta" in town until present.
Keith was predeceased by wife Dorothy; sisters Elizabeth and Margaret; and brother Blaine.
He is survived by wife Sharon; children Denise, Dwayne, Curt (Melody), Darin (BillieJo), and Roger (Darlene); stepchildren Sasha, Darcy (Shaun), Duane (Susan), and Jamie; siblings Joyce, Carol, Robert (Olive), Josephine (Mike), Fred (Trish), Joanne (Barry), Wendy (Les), and Brent (Deb); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Keith's motto: "If you have a family that loves you, good friends, food on your table, and a roof over your head, you are rich."
