May 9, 1950 - July 28, 2018
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing on July 28, 2018 of John 'Jack' Robert Barkwill (born May 9, 1950) at the age of 68. Jack was born in Summerland and lived there most of his life. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Berol Barkwill, also of Summerland, and sister Patricia McNaughton (nee Barkwill).
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Barkwill; children Megan Ardath Barkwill and Sarah Louise Barkwill (Brandon Bothwell); as well as sisters Kathleen Gwen Aten (Jan), Robin Anne Wyndham (Susan McIver), Nancy Louise Hunka (Larry), and Joan Skeet (nee Barkwill); and brothers Richard Harry Barkwill and Ronald Gray Barkwill. He will also be missed by his daughters' mother Jo-Anne Barkwill.
Jack believed strongly in honouring and supporting our forefathers that fought for this great country and was a long time member of the Summerland Legion. He worked tirelessly on their behalf on the executive and in maintenance of the Legion grounds and facilities.
He loved his family, his motorcycles, his friends, and the natural world of the backcountry. He was a master of many skills and could fix almost anything. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 22,14205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC at 1:00 PM, Saturday August 4, 2018. No flowers by request.
