Frank ROGERS

Frank Gordon Rogers 1913-2008 Passed away peacefully at Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton at 12:10am on July 13 th, 2008. Born in Winnipeg, Frank was the youngest son of British immigrant parents Henry and Thurza Rogers. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie who passed away on October 11 th last year. Nearly blind and in declining health, Frank more and more longed to follow his wife of nearly 71 years. He was also predeceased by his older brother, Albert Henry Rogers and nephew Rix Rogers of Ontario and his sister Sally Hurren and nephew Roger Derry of Kelowna. He served in the Air Force during the Second World War which brought about a family relocation from Winnipeg to Vancouver where, after his discharge, he worked with Woodwards. In 1955 the family moved to Penticton where Frank and Marge operated the 5 - $1.00 store adjacent to the old Post Office on Main Street until their retirement 2 years before moving to Westbank in 1978. After 24 years of enjoyable lifestyle filled with boating, camping, travel and family gatherings, they elected to move to Summerland to be closer to their only daughter, Marolyn. Frank and Marge leave to mourn their daughter, Marolyn (George) Witte, granddaughters Karen (Mark) Nairn, Elaine (Randy) MacGillivray and Lynn (Terry) Thompson as well as their great grandchildren, Riley, Nicole and Andrea Nairn of Kamloops and Leah, Katie and Sara MacGillivray of Vernon. They also leave to mourn their niece Joan (Norm) McEachern and family. A Celebration of Life Service for Marjorie and Frank will be held at the Summerland Baptist Church on Monday, July 21 st, 2008 at 11:00am with Pastor Larry Schram officiating. Donations may be made in honour of Frank and Marge to Moog and Friends Hospice House, 1701 Government Street, Penticton, BC V2A 8J7.
