Donald William PEPPER On May 8, 2007 Donald William Pepper of Kamloops passed away at the age of 76, after a brave battle with lung cancer caused by occupational exposure to asbestos. Don was predeceased by his parents Ernest Richard and Harriet Pepper and his brothers Ern of Hamilton and Bert of California. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Hansie Emma, his two daughters Anita and Wendy, his two grandchildren Amanda and Stefanie. Don is also survived by nieces and nephews in Ontario and California. Don was born December 12, 1930 in Hamilton, Ontario, he moved to England at the age of 5 with his parents. He worked as a Carpenter Journeyman. From 1951 – 1953 Don was with the British Army, R.E.M.E. (Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers) in Benghazi, Lybia and two years afterwards working in Rhodesia, Africa as a construction foreman. Th en at age 27, returned to Canada where he met his wife Hansie in Vancouver. Th ey married in June 1958 and lived for 27 years in Port Coquitlam, BC raising his family and working as a carpenter for the School Board and UBC Hospital. He retired at the age of 59 and moved to Summerland and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fi shing, camping, canoeing and dancing with his family and friends. In 2005 he moved to Kamloops to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Many thanks to Dr. Krause, Dr. Gladman and the caring compassionate nurses and staff of Hospice House in Kamloops.
