DONALD URI

February 19, 2012

Donald Uri

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our cherished father and grandfather, Donald Uri on February 19, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Don was predeceased by his devoted wife, Beryl in 2011. He is survived by his five children: Sharon Uri of Creston, Marion and Jack Elder of Penticton, Rick Uri of Vancouver, Dianne and Gordon Young of Summerland, and Leonard and Elizabeth Uri of Williams Lake. Don was a loving, generous man who will be dearly missed. Don was born January 20, 1924 in Creston, BC. He was a pilot and flying instructor in the RCAF from 1942 to 1945. While in the Air Force he met and married his loving wife, Beryl. They returned to Wynndel where he farmed on the Creston Valley Flats and raised his family. They moved to Summerland in 1968 and operated the Bowling Alley for many years. Don enjoyed being outdoors and his passions in life included gardening, bowling, golfing, curling, baseball and sharing adventures with his wife and grandkids. Despite suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the past few years, Don remained a cheerful, easygoing and devoted family man. A family memorial will be held in Creston at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be directed to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com. “Dad, you’ve taken the journey we all must take.
