David BETTS

David William Betts of Summerland, BC passed away peacefully December 10, 2009. Survived by his wife, Margaret, children: Brian Betts of Kelowna, Gerry Betts (Jan) of Penticton, Lori Anne Claudon (Ron) of Auburn, Washington, 6 grandchildren, sisters: Alice Cumming (Alec) of Penticton, Marjorie Fenney (Jim) of North Vancouver. Sadly predeceased by parents Pearl and Ira Betts. Dave was born in Penticton in 1933. He grew up close to the lake and developed a passion for all things related to sports such as Pen Hi football, snow skiing, waterskiing, body surfing and boating. Dave took over the family electrical firm and worked on electrical projects throughout BC while also being an active Board member for many of the BC Construction Associations. Dave had many business ventures, such as being one of the original owners of the Pilgrim House Motel, the Keg Restaurant and Apex Alpine Ski Resort. He was an important part of the development of Apex, bringing power to the mountain from Hedley. Dave enjoyed traveling and made lifelong friends wherever he went. He will be sadly missed. A private family service was held December 13, 2009. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held in the spring.
