NOTICE OF INTENT

Public notice is hereby given pursuant to section 124(3) of the Community Charter that it is the intent of the District of Summerland Council to consider the adoption of amendments to the District’s Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2018-035.

Public notice is hereby given pursuant to section 124(3) of the Community Charter that it is the intent of the District of Summerland Council to consider the adoption of amendments to the District’s Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2018-035.

In general terms, proposed Council Procedure Amendment Bylaw No. 2023-017 would amend the Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2018-035 in the following ways:

  • Removing “Bylaws for Adoption” from the Consent Agenda to be a standalone agenda item;
  • Including formal “notice of motion” procedures;
  • Updating Council Committees to align with the Community Charter and Council Committee meeting procedures; and
  • Amending the day of regularly scheduled Council meetings from Monday to Tuesday (note – this change is to take effect July 18, 2023).

A copy of Council Procedure Amendment BylawNo. 2023-017 is available for viewing on the District’s website at www.summerland.ca or in person, Monday through Friday, except statutory holidays, between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm at:
