A small wildfire that ignited east of Vernon Saturday is being held.
BC Wildfire Service discovered the blaze around 3:45 p.m. June 3.
The fire at Severide Creek is spot sized as of 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Lightning is the suspected cause of the wildfire.
Fire information officer Aydan Coray said the fire is located in a high elevation area approximately 70 kilometres east of Vernon.
“Of note, the fire is surrounded by snow at this time so our crews are going to be monitoring it over the next few days and ensuring that it is fully extinguished,” Coray said.
BC Wildfire Service doesn’t currently have personnel at the fire as of Saturday afternoon, but Coray said crews will be going back out in the next few days.
A wildfire that is classified as being held is not likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.
