Two Summerland wineries to receive awards

Two Summerland wineries have been chosen to receive the 2016 Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence in British Columbia Wines.

Two Summerland wineries have been chosen to receive the 2016 Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence in British Columbia Wines.

The awards were announced by Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. A total of 12 wineries will receive the awards.

A total of 504 wines from 135 wineries were submitted for judging.

“This year’s winners represent the best of the outstanding wines from our province,” Guichon said. “With so many exceptional wines entered each year, it is becoming increasingly challenging for the judges to select the winners.”

From Summerland, Lunessence Winery and Vineyard  will be recognized for its 2014 Riesling Icewine while Okanagan Crush Pad Winery will be recognized for its 2015 Haywire The Bub.

Guichon will visit the winning wineries in September to present the awards.
