Payments will be distributed in coming months

Utility customers in Summerland will receive a one-time cost of living credit.

The program is part of a provincewide initiative to help people as global inflation is resulting in higher costs.

The $100 one-time residential bill credit can amount to approximately one month of electricity for a family living in a detached home or more than two months of electricity for a family living in an apartment.

Commercial ratepayers will receive a one-time bill credit based on their prior year electricity consumption.

Customers of Summerland’s Electric Utility will likely begin to see their bill credits applied in the first quarter of 2023. Once the District receives the credit, staff will begin the process of adding the credit to individual utility bills as soon as possible.

This manual process may be done over a few billing cycles so some customers may receive the credit sooner than others.
