It’s the winter driving season and police are urging motorists to be careful on the roads.

While road conditions are good today, with bare streets and no new snow, a heavy snowfall can result in treacherous conditions.

Cpl. Chris Richardson of the Summerland RCMP detachment said a recent heavy snowfall had police responding to numerous accidents during the day.

In addition, when temperatures rise above the freezing point during the day and cool off in the evening, roads can become icy.

“Take your time,” he said. “Have winter tires and drive accordingly for the weather.”
