The high water level in Okanagan Lake has resulted in concerns about low-lying portions of Highway 97 in the South Okanagan.

Argo Road Maintenance, the contractor for road work along the highway, has been working to prevent further erosion by adding supports where needed.

Officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure say the highway is safe and remains fully open south of Summerland.

Earlier this month, during a wind storm, the highway near Antler’s Beach south of Peachland received damage as waves breached the concrete barriers.

The highway remained open, but motorists experienced delays as a result.
