The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has appointed a team of three people to serve as animal control officers for a three-year contract.
At the June 1 regional district meeting, the board appointed Elizabeth Biggs and her two employees, Nicole Lauritzen and Angela Henshaw as animal control officers.
Biggs has more than 12 years of bylaw enforcement experience and has worked with the BC SPCA Kamloops and Merritt. She is also providing animal control services in Penticton and Summerland.
Her accredited training includes Bylaw Level 1 and 2 from the Justice Institute of BC and animal health and welfare from Thompson Rivers University.
“Having the same contractor run the animal control services for Penticton, Summerland and the applicable areas of the RDOS will provide a more consistent approach to the service in our region,” said Mark Petry, manager of building and enforcement services for the regional district.
“Penticton, Summerland and rural RDOS residents will be able to call the same animal control line and can expect a consistent level of professional care.”
