RCMP confirm fatality on Highway 97 Falkland vehicle crash

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has confirmed that a 66-year old male Kamloops motorcyclist has died, following a crash between a pickup truck and motorcycle near Falkland.

According to RCMP, around 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, officers responded to a collision between a pickup truck and motorcycle in the 6500 block of Highway 97 (10 kilometres west of Falkland). The motorcyclist was travelling southbound on the highway when it rear-ended a pickup truck that was stopped waiting to make a turn off the highway.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of bystanders and medical personnel, the motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased,” RCMP stated in a release.

Highway 97 was closed to traffic for six hours to allow responders to safely complete their investigation.
