The Penticton Vees next home game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 17 against the Merritt Centennials, has been postponed due to the flooding situation in Merritt.
The Vees made the announcement on Tuesday morning that along with the BCHL, the decision was made to postpone the game. On Monday, all 7,000 residents of Merritt were evacuated, including patients at the hospital, when the town’s waste water treatment plant failed.
Wednesday was also supposed to the game the Vees were to honour the legacy of Neil Jamieson.
It is not yet known when the game will be played, however, the Vees are still scheduled to play the Chilliwack Chiefs on Friday.
The Vees send their well wishes to Merritt and all the people around the province who have been affected by the flooding.
The Coquihalla Highway, Highway 7, 3 and sections of Highway 1 are closed due to flooding and mudslides.
