The city of Penticton FireSmart team will be conducting FireSmart pile burning in the Evergreen area (850 Wiltse Blvd.) between Saturday, Nov. 27 and Tuesday, Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m..
This work being undertaken is to reduce ladder fuels in the area and is another step in wildfire prevention for the community.
The public is asked to remain outside of the work area as the burning is being done. If residents have any questions or concerns, please email FireSmart@penticton.ca.
BC Wildfire and Penticton Indian Band have also being doing controlled burns and will continue to do so to work on wildfire prevention.
From Nov. 8 to March 31, the BC Wildfire Service will be burning about 150 piles of wood debris in an area located about five kilometers east of Naramata.
As part of the ongoing fuels management project, pile burning will occur in an effort to reduce wildfire hazards by lowering the accumulations of fuel in the surrounding areas.
The burning will take place near the Arawana Forest Service Road for at least the next four months.
