The Okanagan Similkameen Parks Society will hold its 52nd annual general meeting in Summerland later this month.
The guest presenter at the meeting will be Mike Roberts, a historian who worked at CHBC television for more than 40 years.
Roberts will speak about Okanagan history and will honour the late Bill Barlee, who is one of the parks society’s 2017 celebrated pioneers.
The parks society works to acquire and preserve parklands for the health, recreation, education and natural enjoyment of the public.
The society also works to preserve wildlife habitat and protect natural biotic areas for scientific study.
Over the years, the society has successfully established Cathedral Lakes Park, Conkle Lake Park and Okanagan Mountain Park, and have also helped to preserve historic trails.
The meeting will be held at Centre Stage Theatre in Summerland on Friday, April 28, beginning at 7 p.m.
