Extreme cold warnings continue to be in effect for Okanagan highways on Friday, Jan. 12.
The Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and from Merritt to Kamloops as well as the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna and the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass are all expecting temperatures ranging from -25 to -35 degrees, with wind chills making it feel like -40 to -50 degrees.
These temperatures and wind chills are expected to effect travelling for the next two days and start to moderate on Sunday, Jan. 14.
Because of this, travellers could experience blowing snow that could reduce visibility. Weather in the mountains can change rapidly and travellers should also keep extra supplies like jackets, blankets, and jumper cables.
