After a senior was assaulted in Penticton, police are asking for help to identify the suspect caught on video.

“Police have acquired video surveillance footage of the suspect in this matter, in which we hope can help identify the suspect,” said Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson. “No one in our community, especially a vulnerable person, should be threatened or harmed while trying to simply shop.”

The 85-year-old was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after the altercation on Dec. 5.

The victim had entered the Penticton Walmart when he was approached by another man, who argued with him about the way the senior had parked his car.

During that argument, the suspect allegedly tripped the senior, injuring him, before he fled the area in a dark-coloured SUV.

The suspect is described by RCMP as a Caucasian man with a moustache, balding dark hair, glasses and wearing a blue and green Seattle Seahawks sweater.

Anyone who may have information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Penticton RCMP Detachment at 250-492-4300 and quote file 2023-19515.
