A grass fire near Oliver was doused by crews Wednesday (June 24) afternoon.
The fire was located near Seacrest Hill Rd, which is about five kilometers north of the Town of Oliver.
Oliver Fire Department chief Rob Graham says the fire was caused by lightning, and grew to a size of about one acre before crews were able to put it out.
Firefighters, he explained, arrived on scene shortly after 12 p.m., and were on scene for about an hour and a half.
On Wednesday morning, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the entire Okanagan region, followed by severe weather which hit the region in the early afternoon.
