Fan favourite Falkland Stampede ready to rodeo

Canada’s biggest little rodeo is in the bucking chute ready to be released.

The 103rd Falkland Stampede runs Saturday to Monday, May 20-22, featuring the top cowboys and cowgirls in the world.

Things kick off Saturday with breakfast at the Stampede Grounds from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. That’s followed by the first of three Canadian Pro Rodeo events at 1 p.m. Beverage gardens are open until 7 p.m.

The Saturday and Sunday dances at the Falkland Community Hall, featuring Rockin’ Horse Band, start with the doors opening at 9 p.m. Dance tickets are $20 and available online or at the door until sold out.

Breakfast runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday and Monday. The Cowboy Church service will be held at the Falkland Community Church (2940 Chase Falkland Road) at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The annual Falkland Stampede Parade begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, and motorists, please be advised Highway 97 will be shut down at 12:15 p.m. for the parade.

The rodeo starts at 2 p.m.

Final day Monday features the third go of the rodeo at 1 p.m.

Tim Edge from Mountain Edge Productions is the voice of the Stampede. Dennis Halstead returns with his hilarious antics as the rodeo clown, and the rodeo halftime entertainment will be provided by Full Throttle Trick Riding and Yule Ponies, who will amaze rodeo-goers with their performances.

Rodeo tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and kids six and under are admitted. Tickets are available online or at the gate.
