Summerland Credit Union and Summerland Secondary School are wrapping up the inaugural Entrepreneur Program with a concluding event.

On Tuesday, May 22, four students at the high school will present business ideas before a panel.

Raja Gupta, a high school teacher working with the program, said the concepts represent a number of different ideas.

“One is an IT concept, one is much-more fashion-based, one is helping people with downsizing and one involves using drones and cameras to help agriculturalists,” he said.

A fifth student will talk about the entrepreneur program itself.

Gupta said the entrepreneur program is designed to help teach students business-related skills.

The students have spent the school year learning what is involved in starting a business. “We want the panelists to judge the business ideas on their merit,” Gupta said.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Centre Stage Theatre. Admission is free; however, those attending are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for the Summerland Food Bank.
