RCMP are investigating after the body of a man was found on a forest service road near Big White on Saturday, April 20.

“We can confirm it is being investigated as a homicide,” said Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson.

The Kelowna RCMP were called to the 201 Forest Service Road that heads towards Big White, on the afternoon of April 20, after the body had been discovered by witnesses.

Upon arrival, the RCMP confirmed they found a body lying in a creek.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has now taken over the conduct of the investigation.

“The investigation is in its preliminary stages, with no identified risk to the public,” said Cpl. Grandy.

The deceased individual has not yet been identified, and the BC Coroners Service is working with police to help identify the victim.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been on the 201 Forest Service Road over the past two weeks, and observed anything suspicious, to call the Southeast District Major Crime Unit tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
