Penticton is on its way to getting a new six-storey, 26-unit apartment building.
City council unanimously approved a proposal on Tuesday, Aug. 16, that would see 970 Dynes Avenue occupied with an apartment featuring private decks and rooftop patios for those on the sixth floor.
The building — set to be located adjacent to the city’s North Gateway area — was praised by council for its design during Tuesday’s meeting.
Aside from its rooftop patios, the north-end apartment will feature an indoor gym on the second floor and fifth-floor roof gardens.
Each unit will contain a private deck that is 279 square feet, on average.
Consisting of one bedroom, two bedrooms and three-bedroom units, residences will be separated into two low-rise towers to ensure homes receive morning and evening light, according to the developer.
Penticton’s North Gateway area is in development to be the city’s first neighbourhood where people could live, work and play all within a 15-minute walking radius.
Along with the aforementioned nearby apartment building, the city is planning the North Gateway to feature up to 350 new hotel rooms, 2,250 residential units and 30,000 square feet of commercial space.
