Contract awarded for Campbell Mountain landfill near Penticton

Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen awards five-year contract

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen awarded contracts for landfill operations during their Nov. 18 board meeting.

The contract for the operation of the Campbell Mountain landfill near Penticton was awarded to Green For Life Environmental Inc., at a cost of $658,293.29 a year for a five-year term.

A second landfill contract, for the Oliver landfill, will be filled internally at a cost of $358,921.36 a year for a five-year term.

Contracts for the operation of these landfills are awarded to outside firms for five-year contracts. The two landfill operations contracts will both expire on May 31, 2022.

Green For Life Environmental Inc. has had the contract for the Campbell Mountain landfill from June 2016 to May 2021 at a cost of $683,236, while B and B Wood Grinding Inc. operated the Oliver landfill at a cost of $334,950 a year.

In addition, the regional district awarded a contract for leachate extraction at the Campbell Mountain landfill. The contract, for $181,532, was awarded to Modular Electric Ltd.

Three bids were submitted for this work. The Modular Electric Ltd. contract was the lowest of the three.
